Smoking & The Community

Reducing the smoking rate is a priority of Pyrenees Shire Council’s Municipal Health and Wellbeing Plan. (which you can read here)

Chief Executive Officer Stephen Cornish said Council wanted community involvement to look at ways to achieve this goal.

“Smoking is prevalent in our community, we rank at number one in the state with one in three people over 18 current smokers,” Mr Cornish said.

“Council with Healthy Together Grampians Goldfields wants to work with the community, through our Health and Wellbeing Plan to try to reduce that rate,” he said.
