Landsborough Transfer Station

Tuesday 03 April 2018, 4:16 PM

Landsborough Transfer Station will be trialled as a staffed facility for the next six months.

The Transfer Station has long been the target of illegal rubbish dumping which is a disappointment to Council and the community.

Rubbish dumping costs Council to clean up, and therefore costs the community money that could be better spent.

Unscrupulous operators have cut locks to gates and just dumped rubbish wherever they see fit, not even using skips that are provided.

Council is hopeful that having a physical presence at the Transfer Station, people will be deterred from dumping rubbish.

Council has been working on preparing the facility and it is now locked outside of operating hours instead of being left open.

The Station is now open 10am-3pm on Thursdays and Saturdays. These are the same operating hours the facility has had in prior years.

The facility will not accept the following: mattresses, batteries, tyres, construction materials, gas bottles or refrigerators.

Fees will apply at the facility from Thursday, April 19, and residents of the Pyrenees Shire have been provided with Transfer Station vouchers via a letter in the post. Commercial operators will be charged fees.

These vouchers are supplied annually to all ratepayers with their Rates Notice and more will be sent in September. Should you require more vouchers, please get in touch with Council via; or on 5349 1100.

We acknowledge the people past and present of the Wadawurrung, Dja Dja Wurrung, and Djab Wurrung tribes, whose land forms the Pyrenees Shire. We pay our respect to the customs, traditions and stewardship of the land by the elders and people of these tribes.
