Murray Basin Rail Project Consultation

Monday 10 July 2017, 11:01 AM

This information is provided to you from Public Transport Victoria.

Late last year the project team visited your community to hear your views about the Murray Basin Rail Project, which includes upgrade works to enable the reopening of the Maryborough to Ararat freight rail line.

Feedback from discussions with the local community, landowners and stakeholders have helped the team refine its proposal to combine and reduce the over 100 level crossings so that the 87km line can be safely reopened.

Representatives from V/Line, Transport For Victoria are returning to your area in the coming days to host a program of community drop-in sessions. These sessions have been organised to provide a project update, introduce the contractors from McConnell Dowell Martinus Rail Joint Venture, and explain how earlier community feedback has helped shape the project approach.

The project team will be in your area on:

MONDAY 10 JULY Elmhurst Mechanics Institute, High Street, Elmhurst

TUESDAY 11 JULY Alexandra Oval Community Centre, 1 Waratah Avenue, Ararat

WEDNESDAY 12 JULY Avoca Town Hall, Rutherford Street, Avoca

MONDAY 17 JULY Amphitheatre Recreation Reserve, 9 School Street, Amphitheatre

TUESDAY 18 JULY Maryborough Community House, 23 Primrose Street, Maryborough

We invite you to drop in any time between 6:00pm and 8:00pm to talk to the project team, meet the contractors, and find out more about the next steps in the project.

If you are unable to attend but would like more information, visit, email or call 1800 800 007.
