Pyrenees Shire Council will move forward from the 2016 Council Elections with a strong team of Councillors.

Tanya Kehoe, Michael O’Connor, David Clark, Ron Eason and Robert Vance were all returned to Pyrenees Shire Council for another four-year term.

Council Chief Executive Officer Jim Nolan said he wanted to take the opportunity to congratulate the five returning Councillors on their election.

“I am personally looking forward to working with each of our Councillors on a new Council Plan, and continuing to grow the prosperity of the Pyrenees Shire,” Mr Nolan said.

The Council chose to elect Ron Eason as Mayor of the Pyrenees Shire for the next 12 months at its Statutory Meeting at Lexton.

“The role of Mayor is a vital one, they are the Council’s leading voice in the community, they work hard in an advocacy role and are the public face of the Council,” Mr Nolan said.

This is the second term of Council for Ron, who was first elected to the Avoca Ward in 2012.

Ron and his wife Jenny moved to Avoca in 2009 when they purchased the newsagency in town.

“I would like to thank my fellow Councillors for supporting me to lead them for the next 12 months,” Mayor Eason said.

“I would also like to thank the community for returning all of the Councillors to the Pyrenees Shire Council,” he said.

“It is now time for us, as a Council, to get started on the next Council Plan, to drive our vision for the Pyrenees Shire and we look forward to sharing this with the community when the time comes.”
