Pool season starts this weekend in the Pyrenees

Pyrenees Shire Council’s pools in Avoca, Beaufort and Landsborough will open this coming Saturday for the summer season.

The three pools are usually available from the first Saturday in December to the Monday of the March Labour Day long weekend.  This year's pool season will be extended because of the delayed opening.

Council Chief Executive Officer Jim Nolan said he looked forward to the commissioning of the Beaufort Pool heat pump.

“The heat pump needs to be commissioned once the pool is up and running, and we also need to do some electrical work which involves Powercor turning off supply,” Mr Nolan said.

“We are planning for that to happen in early December,” he said.

Council is investigating the use of a generator so that the operation of the pool is not interrupted.

¬≠The pool’s temperature reflects the average ambient air temperature, and the new heat pump will make it up to three degrees warmer.

The new fence at the Beaufort pool was installed as part of the annual maintenance program.

Over winter Council has also installed a new pump at the Avoca pool and carried out maintenance work on the change rooms.

Beaufort and Avoca opening hours: 11am-7pm on weekends, public holidays and school holidays. Weekdays in December; 2pm-6.30pm. Weekdays in February/March; 10am-7pm.

Landsborough opening hours: 1pm-7pm on weekends, public holidays and school holidays.

Beaufort, Landsborough and Avoca admission prices for this summer are: Adult $4.20, Child $2.30, Concession $3.00 and a Family $11.50. Family season passes are $77.
