Home>Proposed Naming / Renaming of Roads
| Bennet Lane, Beaufort
Nicholls Street, Lexton
During the past few months Council, at the request of DSE and the Emergency Service Organisations, has been conducting checks on road naming that does not meet the Rural and Urban Addressing Standard or has been highlighted as likely to cause confusion.
Council at its Ordinary meeting held on 20/10/2009, resolved to advertise the proposed changes as detailed below:
Proposed Road: Bennett Lane Previous Name: Un-Named Road Location: The road runs east off Kilberg Road between Ingram Lane and High Street Beaufort. Distance: 382 metres Reason: The road has recently been formed and properties on this road require access addresses.
Proposed Road: Nicholls Street Previous Name: Anderson Street Location: The section of Anderson Street between the Sunraysia Highway and Hamilton St Lexton. Distance: 260 metres Reason: Due to the closure of the Anderson Street creek crossing this road now exists in two sections. The emergency services have highlighted such instances as confusing and potentially life threatening.
Council invites residents to forward a submission for the naming/ re-naming of these roads under Section 223 Local Government Act 1989. Plans highlighting the affected roads can be inspected at the Beaufort Office, Lawrence St. Beaufort and the Avoca Customer Service Centre, High Street, Avoca.
Submissions will be received until Tuesday 1st December 2009, after which Council will consider all submissions and resolve names accordingly.
Submissions should be addressed to: - The C.E.O, Pyrenees Shire Council, 5 Lawrence Street, Beaufort. 3373.
Further information can be obtained by contacting Geoff Pearce during office hours phone 53491100.
