Council has agreed to a recommendation by the Register of Geographic Names to make a technical correction to feature names using the term Saint. The council has also resolved to correct an error in the spelling of St. Enochs in the official register.

Council at its Ordinary meeting held on 17/02/2009, resolved to advertise the proposed changes as detailed below:

Feature Name: St Marys Hill
Previous Name: Saint Marys Hill
Location: Hill situated off the Beaufort-Waubra Rd between Loaders Rd and Gordons Rd.
Reason: Technical correction to the presentation of the term Saint.

Feature Name: St Marys (Historical)
Previous Name: Saint Marys (Historical)
Location: Hill situated off the Beaufort-Waubra Rd between Loaders Rd and Gordons Rd.
Reason: Technical correction to the presentation of the term Saint.

Feature Name: St Enochs Reservoir
Previous Name: Saint Enocks Reservoir
Location: Reservoir situated between Stockyard Hill Rd and Carngham-Streatham Rd.
Reason: Technical correction to the presentation of the term Saint and misspelling of Enochs in the register.

Council invites residents to forward a submission for the naming/ re-naming of these features under Section 223 Local Government Act 1989. Plans highlighting the affected areas can be inspected at the Beaufort Office, Lawrence Street, Beaufort and the Avoca Customer Service Centre, High St., Avoca.

Submissions will be received until Tuesday 1st December 2009, after which Council will consider all submissions and resolve names accordingly.

Submissions should be addressed to: - The C.E.O, Pyrenees Shire Council, 5 Lawrence Street, Beaufort. 3373.
