Animals
Animals, whether companion pets, working animals or stock, play an important role in the lives of many people in the Pyrenees Shire.
The role of Council Officers (Rangers) is to advise and assist residents in managing their animals and to ensure that any nuisance which may arise is eliminated or managed to achieve a reasonable outcome for all involved. Council's Animal Control Department consists of two part-time officers. They may be contacted through Council's Customer Service Office on 03 5349 1100.
Under Council's Local Law 2007, without a permit an owner or occupier of land (other than land rated as farm land) must not keep on that land more than:

- 2 dogs
