There is a strong recycling culture that has developed generally within society due to the committed efforts of governments and leading agencies, including council and schools. The community generally is environmentally conscious and keen to see the optimal use of our raw materials.

Pyrenees Shire Council remains committed in the delivery of customer focused, equitable and responsive waste management services to residents of the municipality, that is cost effective, and to the highest standards practicable in accordance with "best value" principles.

A cost effective Waste Management Strategy is Council's aim that will enable its community to support recycling along with reducing waste to landfill. This initiative is linked to State Government policy of reducing waste to landfill.

We acknowledge the people past and present of the Wadawurrung, Dja Dja Wurrung, and Djab Wurrung tribes, whose land forms the Pyrenees Shire. We pay our respect to the customs, traditions and stewardship of the land by the elders and people of these tribes.
