PART TIME - LIMITED TENURE (MATERNITY LEAVE - 12 MONTHS)

BAND 5 $65,313- $75,068 PRO RATA + SUPER

Pyrenees Shire Council has a maternity leave vacancy for an experienced Communications Officer. The successful candidate will assist with the positive promotion of the Council’s services, activities and corporate image. The position is based in Beaufort approximately 30 minutes west of Ballarat.

The Communications Officer is responsible for the development and implementation of media/communication policies and strategies to ensure that Council provides effective communication with its community.

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or extensive experience in journalism, public relations or communications;
  • Ability to manage complex and sensitive issues and anticipate issues and opportunities impacting on Council;
  • Highly developed writing, editing and project management skills;  and
  • High level of communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.

The salary classification for this position will be in accordance with the Victorian Local Authorities Award, 2001 and will be Band 5 - the position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
