BAND 5 $65,313- $75,068 PRO RATA + SUPER

Pyrenees Shire is a progressive municipality and supportive organisation that serves a population of approximately 8000 people.  The Shire’s administration is based at Beaufort, a 30 minute drive from Ballarat and Ararat and 90 minutes from Melbourne. The Shire is renowned for its natural environment, beautiful landscapes, agricultural production, charming character-filled towns and developing tourism industry including the renowned Pyrenees wine area.  It is supported by health, education and community services.

An opportunity exists for an Events Officer to join Council’s Economic Development and Tourism team on a twelve month, part-time basis. The Events Officer will play an integral role in Council’s Economic Development and Tourism team, working with various stakeholders on a wide range of interesting applications for events across the Shire.

The role requires a person with proficiency in communications with stakeholders in all facets of events management and promotion. The right candidate will be motivated by a commitment to providing clear advice and guidance to the community, colleagues, and stakeholders regarding a range of events processes. 

The successful applicant will be required to contribute to Council’s culture of working with event organisations towards meeting regulatory compliance and to support them to promote their events through established networks. An important focus of the role is the continued development and implementation of internal event management processes that enable good customer service and community outcomes.

The position will report to the Manager Economic Development and Tourism. The ideal applicant will have a background in events management and experience preferably, in a local government setting.

The salary classification for this position is in accordance with the Victorian Local Authorities Award, 2001 – Band 5.
