New Audit and Risk Committee Member

Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Keane as the new independent member of the Audit and Risk Committee.

Brian Keane is a former executive manager in financial and information services, with over 40 years’ experience.

Mr Keane is an accredited FCPA and holds a Bachelor of Economics.

He is now focused on sharing his strategic risk and governance knowledge for the benefit of local government.

Council Mayor Damian Ferrari said he was excited to have someone of Mr Keane’s calibre join the committee.

“The breadth of Mr Keane’s experience includes with Australia Post and National Foods and he has also worked with other local governments on similar committees,” Cr Ferrari said.

The Audit and Risk Committee operates under a charter from Council and monitors the organisation’s compliance with financial, risk and fraud prevention measures. The Committee also oversees internal and external audit functions, and monitors compliance with governance principles and the Local Government Act 2020.

Mr Keane replaces Geoff Price as the independent member on the committee.

Cr Ferrari thanked Mr Price for his extraordinary commitment and excellent advice to Pyrenees over the past nine years.
