Recent water sampling of the Beaufort Lake has confirmed high levels of Enterococci, which can lead to the possible presence of disease causing bacteria.
Lake users are advised to avoid primary contact with lake water, including swimming, bathing and direct-contact water sports.
The water remains suitable for secondary (non-skin contact) activities such as fishing.
Council will continue to monitor the situation and update the community of any change.
