The second round of Pyrenees Shire Council’s Funding Program will open next week.

“Community grants are an important source of funding for our local community projects and events,” said Pyrenees Shire Council Mayor Cr Ron Eason.

Community groups and organisations are encouraged to apply for funding to support the development and running of events and community programs, or funds for capital works or equipment.

Local businesses are eligible for funding under our shop façade category to support local business development and improve the appeal of our local streetscapes.

“In the first round Council funded some important community projects, such as roof repairs for Beaufort’s Men’s Shed, a new gas hot water system for Moonambel Recreation Reserve Committee, Avoca’s Community Food Panty’s Healthy Eating Initiative, Beaufort Guides’ Junior Disco Program, and Snake Valley Hall Committee’s upcoming Easter project.

“Many of these programs and projects wouldn’t be able to happen without this support from Council’s funding programs. We’re very pleased we can continue to provide this kind of support to our community,” said Cr Eason.

Council’s funding programs are open to eligible incorporated community and not-for-profit groups based within the Pyrenees Shire or from groups which provide services or activities for people living in the Pyrenees Shire.

“We’d encourage our local community groups and businesses to apply for a grant from our funding program. If you’re uncertain about whether you qualify, speak to our Community Wellbeing and Grants Coordinator or stop in to one of the information sessions,” Cr Eason said.

The second round of the community funding program closes on 6 March.

Drop-in sessions will be running in January and February for help and advice for those seeking to apply for funds:

• Redbank Hall: 6 February, 10am to 12pm
