Summer is back and all pools in the Pyrenees are opening this Saturday, 3 December. With warm weather predicted it is shaping up to be a great start to the season.

Beaufort and Avoca pools are open from 11am to 7pm on weekends, public holidays and school holidays, 1pm to 7pm Monday to Friday (non-school holidays), and 6.30am to 8am for lap swimming on Tuesdays and Thursdays (subject to lifeguard availability).

The opening hours at Landsborough will be 1pm to 7pm weekends, public holidays and school holidays, and 3pm to 7pm Monday to Friday (non-school holidays).

Swimming is great for total health and well-being including weight loss, increased strength and muscle definition, flexibility, improved asthma, reduced stress, and more.

It is also a good way to keep the kids entertained and provide a social outlet. On that front, there will be some great events happening at the pools this season, so keep an eye out for a calendar of events.

Pyrenees Shire CEO, Jim Nolan, said Council has made some significant upgrades to the Shire’s swimming pools.

“Some of the main improvements include the installation of a mobility lift at the Beaufort Pool and the new carpark at the Avoca Pool,” said Mr Nolan. “The grass area at the Beaufort Pool has also had some tender loving care.”

“The mobility lift, purchased by the Beaufort Friends of the Pool, enables injured or disabled people to swim and exercise,” he said.

This will be Belgravia Leisure’s second season with managing the pools. Belgravia has a wealth of experience in managing pool facilities.

If you’re looking for work, Belgravia Leisure is currently seeking both junior and senior lifeguards for the season.

The pools will remain open until the end of March, 2023.

Please note that the pools will not open if the predicted temperature the night before is forecasted to be less than 20 degrees, on days declared Code Red, or with extreme weather.
