South Street Beaufort - Footpath Construction

Published on 25 March 2021

Council has been successful in obtaining funding under the Federal Governments Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program for footpath construction in South Street, Beaufort along with a Council contribution set aside for improvements in walkability.

Council officers have been investigating the most appropriate route to link with existing crossing points on Beaufort Skipton Road and the most appropriate side for the footpath to be installed along South Street. Some nature strips and road crossing points are considered inappropriate for footpath installation and have been avoided by the planned installation route. Council has tried to minimize the impact on nature strip trees.

Construction of a 1.8-meter-wide concrete footpath in South Street is likely to be undertaken in May 2021 and is planned to be completed by June 2021 dependent upon contractor availability and weather conditions.
