Council will no longer be printing transfer station vouchers – all you will need from September 1 is proof of your Pyrenees address.

The Transfer Station Voucher system has been phased out to simplify the process and as an added bonus it is saving paper!

Household waste, green waste and recycling deposits will not attract a gate fee at any of our transfer stations as this is covered by the waste charge.

Other materials such as matresses, e-waste, oil and car tyres will attract a charge to drop off.

Be ready to show your license to the Transfer Station Attendant when you arrive, and listen to their instructions while dropping off your items.

Non-resident ratepayers can drop off domestic waste, just remember your rates notice when you head to the Transfer Station.

Mayor Tanya Kehoe said it was vital to keep recycling paper, cardboard steel and aluminum cans, plastic and glass.

“We are aware that by removing the vouchers, the cost incentive to recycle has disappeared,” Cr Kehoe said.

“We are encouraging residents to continue to separate waste from recycling as it reduces landfill and valuable resources can be reused,” she said.

“A limit of one 6X4 trailer load a day per household will apply.”

Building and construction waste is not accepted at Transfer Stations.

Meanwhile, Council is working in partnership with the State Government and DELWP to provide a sustainable recycle recovery plan that will transition us to a Circular Economy.

This transition plan will identify issues and inconsistencies in the current waste and recycling system. The Victorian Government has committed $129 million to the implementation of the Transition Plan. Pending community consultation, Council is seeking to provide an additional kerbside glass bin from 1 July 2021 in addition to the existing waste, recycling and green waste bins. This new four bin model together with the Container Deposit Scheme aims to deliver reform to household recycling.
