Pyrenees Shire Council has launched a photo competition to boost the visitor economy post COVID-19.

The Visiting Friends and Family Campaign is aimed at encouraging locals to get their friends and family to plan a trip to the region.

“We are inviting local residents to become regional ambassadors,” Mayor Damian Ferrari said.

“Post a photo on Facebook or Instagram of your favourite place in the Pyrenees where you like to spend time with family and friends using #seeyouinthepyrenees,” Cr Ferrari said.

The campaign will run for five weeks over Easter and School holidays giving our locals the chance to show off their passion for the region they call home to their family and friends and help the tourism industry post COVID-19.

At the end of the five weeks, photos will be short listed by a panel of experts and the top 10 photos will be open to a public vote on the Visit Pyrenees Facebook Page.

The winner will receive a two-night stay at Faraday on Avoca for up to six people valued at $800 which will offer them the opportunity to invite a group of friends or family to visit.

“2020 was a difficult year, not knowing how long it would be before we could see our loved ones again,” Cr Ferrari said.

“This competition will encourage our local residents to reconnect with loved ones while showing off our beautiful region.”

Competition terms and conditions are available on the Visit Pyrenees website, https://visitpyrenees.com.au/be-a-pyrenees-ambassadore-and-win/
