COVID-19 cases are on the rise, and Council would like to inform the community that our waste and recycling services might be affected by staff shortages.

Council’s contractor SUEZ is dealing with COVID-19 positive cases in its workforce, and we’ve been made aware that if the situation escalates they might struggle to continue normal services.

This communication is to advise the public that we are actively working on a contingency plan to address a potential loss of waste and recycling truck drivers.

If SUEZ is unable to complete its normal service runs, the plan is to prioritise the collection of landfill waste which may mean a reduction in the recycling and glass bins.

We understand this might cause inconvenience to households, and we apologise in advance if this decision has to be made.

Council will continue to work with SUEZ on the issue, and we will update you as soon as practicable via email, the website, social media and local papers.

We are also looking at a text message service in addition to these methods, and if you would like to update your details with us, please do so via our website or on 1300 797 363.
