Pyrenees Shire Council leaders CEO Jim Nolan and Mayor Damian Ferrari have received their first doses of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Cr Ferrari said he was keen to get his vaccination to help protect the vulnerable in our community.

“I always intended on getting vaccinated as soon as I was eligible so I could play my part in boosting herd immunity in Pyrenees,” Cr Ferrari said.

Council CEO Jim Nolan has also had his first dose, and was proud to inform the community.

“Vaccination is the way out of lockdowns because of COVID-19, and we would encourage the community to get vaccinated as soon as they are eligible,” Mr Nolan said.

Getting a COVID-19 vaccine will help protect you from getting sick from COVID-19. The vaccines are very effective at preventing serious illness and death due to COVID-19.

Currently eligibility is open for adults in Victoria over the age of 40 in the general population. Frontline healthcare workers and other occupations are also eligible to receive a vaccination.

Victoria’s hotline on 1800 675 398 enables you to make an appointment for your vaccine, depending on your age and health circumstances.

Please also chat to your GP about whether they are providing vaccinations.

Information on the vaccinations and an eligibility checker can be found on the Federal Government’s website. (https://covid-vaccine.healthdirect.gov.au/eligibility)
