Planning

The Pyrenees Shire Council is the Responsible Authority under the Planning and Environment Act 1987 for the administration and enforcement of the Pyrenees Planning Scheme.

What is Planning?

Planning considers the way land is used and developed, and how this impacts the character and amenity of an area.

The Pyrenees Planning Scheme, approved by the Victorian Government, outlines the objectives, policies and controls for the use, development and protection of land.

A planning permit is a legal document that gives you permission to use or develop land in a certain way. It usually includes conditions and approved plans which must be complied with.

Whether you want to apply for a planning permit, find out more about zoning or look at applications currently on exhibition, Council’s Planning Department is here to help.
