Permits to Burn

Please visit the Fire Permits Victoria website to apply for fire permits and/or notify authorities of a burn-off:

https://firepermits.vic.gov.au/

Fire Permits Victoria is a website that allows Victorians to create an account to apply for fire permits during a period when fire restrictions are in place or on a day of total fire ban (TFB). The website also allows a person to notify authorities of the use of a permit during a period when fire restrictions are in place or TFB; and a burn-off during a period when fire restrictions are not in place. Notification of fire ignitions all year round avoids unnecessary 000 call outs. The website is a collaboration of all of Victoria’s fire services - CFA (Country Fire Authority), Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) and Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV).

Please ensure you are aware of any permit requirements of the Pyrenees Shire General Local Law 2019 before burning off.

You can find information about burning off during non-Fire Danger Periods here.

A burn-off refers to lighting a fire to remove vegetation such as grass, stubble, weeds or undergrowth in the open air.

Burn-offs when fire restrictions are in place require a permit (e.g. when there is a declared fire danger period, seasonal prohibited period or total fire ban day) after being granted a permit to do so. The permit holder must comply with permit conditions and must notify the planned use of a granted permit through the Fire Permits Victoria home page 'Notify' tab to reduce 000 brigade call outs.
