Avoca Hub Footpath & Parking Bay

Avoca Hub Pavement.JPG

The old footpath at the front of the Avoca Hub (along Rutherford St; formerly the old shire offices) is currently being replaced due to damage caused by tree roots. The new section of pavement will also feature a Disability Discrimination Act (DDA)–compliant crossing where the footpath meets the road.

Around the corner, in the car park to the north of the hub, a new DDA-compliant disabled car park is also being constructed with crossing point.

This work will significantly improve amenity to the hub for people with accessibility issues, particularly with the addition of an entry ramp to the building along with accessible toilets.

The footpath and car park are two elements of a larger project to upgrade the old shire offices, which are being refurbished to create a multi-use community and business incubation space. Refurbishment work is nearly complete, with the flooring to be laid in the next week or two. When it’s complete, Council will be seeking expressions of interest from microbusinesses and community groups who may wish to hire a space on a short to medium term basis.

In partnership with the Victorian State Government (through Regional Development Victoria), Council has invested more than $300,000 in the refurbishment of the Avoca Hub.
