This recently completed project is an upgrade of the shared footpath that links Moonambel with the Moonambel Recreation Reserve and the beautiful campground there, providing better pedestrian and bike access. The path has now been upgraded and sealed with bitumen all the way to the edge of town, from where existing footpaths lead to the pub and general store, not to mention Summerfield Winery, which has a great restaurant with lovely outdoor dining. The recreation reserve has a number of excellent facilities, including the campground, which offers powered and unpowered sites, and the modern community hub that’s available for hire. The building of the footpath was outlined in the Community Action Plan for Moonambel, while the funding for the project came as part of the Federal Government’s $2 million Drought Communities Programme.
