Beaufort Key Worker Accommodation update
Published on 29 September 2026
A landmark project to address workforce shortages and support Beaufort’s ongoing growth is nearing completion, providing much-needed key worker housing.
The Beaufort Key Worker Accommodation Project will deliver 10 modern, affordable housing options for workers in critical sectors including healthcare, education, emergency services and local government, helping attract and retain the people essential to the community's future.
Mayor Cr Damian Ferrari said the Burke Street project represented a significant investment in the region’s long-term prosperity and resilience.
"Access to housing is one of the biggest challenges facing regional communities across Australia, and it is increasingly impacting our ability to attract and retain the workers we need to deliver essential services," Cr Ferrari said.
"This project is an important step towards addressing that challenge. By providing quality, affordable accommodation for key workers, we're strengthening our community, supporting local employers and ensuring people can live and work in Beaufort.
"The Beaufort Key Worker Accommodation Project demonstrates what can be achieved when the Victorian Government and local government work together to address local challenges with innovative solutions."
Construction of the 10 houses was funded through the Victorian Government’s Regional Worker Accommodation Fund, with Council providing $900,000.
The Beaufort Key Worker Accommodation Project forms part of Council's broader commitment to advocacy and investment in housing solutions that support sustainable growth and community wellbeing across Pyrenees Shire.
