The Fair Access Policy Roadmap is a policy framework developed by the Victorian Government’s Office for Women in Sport and Recreation, Sport and Recreation Victoria and VicHealth, and was released in August 2022. It’s the first of its kind in Australia and aims to make sure women and girls across the state have equal access to community sports facilities.

Council’s response to the Fair Access Roadmap focuses on building internal capability to identify and address systemic barriers, such as gender inequality and cultural bias, across all planning, policy, communications, and service delivery related to community sport and leisure.

Pyrenees Shire Council has developed and adopted a Fair Access Policy and Action Plan. Together, these documents aim to improve equitable access to and use of Council-managed community sport and recreation facilities across the Shire. They provide a framework to guide inclusive decision-making, ensure fair use of shared spaces, and support increased participation for all members of the community.
