Pin Oaks will be planted along the Tanwood Avenue of Honour in July 2026.
The new trees will replace the existing flowering gums which have died or are in poor condition.
Pin Oaks (Quercus palustris) are a fast-growing, frost-tolerant, pyramid-shaped tree with brilliant bronze and scarlet autumn foliage.
They were chosen for the Avenue of Honour based on responses to our community engagement survey in late 2025. The majority of respondents favoured the planting of deciduous trees that will “stand out” in the landscape, and Pin Oaks were the most popular choice.
The new trees will be planted in July 2026.
