Bridge works and road closures

Road closures

Walker Street - Burton Street, Beaufort
Drainage improvement works are being conducted at the intersection of Walker Street and Burton Street, on the west side of the Beaufort Hospital/Medical Centre.

Works are scheduled to begin on Monday 24 July, weather permitting. A short section of Walker Street and Burton Street will be closed to traffic - see diagram below.

The improvements are designed to prevent stormwater overflowing into the hospital.

Snake Valley-Smythesdale Road
Works on Snake Valley-Smythesdale Road (between Hopes Lane and Burrumbeet-Hillcrest Road) is underway. Sealing was completed in early April and guard rails are yet to be installed.

The road is in operation while work is being completed. However, we ask that the road users respect the reduced speed limits and be aware that there may be delays when guard rails are being installed.

Flood-related road closures

Many roads in the Shire have been affected by flooding during October and November 2022, and some are closed. Roads that have been reopened may still be hazardous in places, so please take care and drive with extreme caution. Never drive through flood waters.
