Construction begins on Beaufort Off-Leash Dog Park

Construction is underway on the new Beaufort Off-Leash Dog Park, transforming underused Beggs Street land into a welcoming community destination for local dog owners and visitors alike.
The fully fenced dog park will provide dedicated areas for large and small dogs, creating a safe and enjoyable space for exercise, recreation and social connection.
Designed with both people and the environment in mind, the park will feature native vegetation to provide shade and support biodiversity, hydration stations, shaded seating areas, and Indigenous plantings.
Pyrenees Shire Council Mayor Damian Ferrari said the project – developed after a community petition was presented to Council - would deliver significant community benefits while enhancing Beaufort’s liveability.
"The Beaufort Off-Leash Dog Park will provide a safe and accessible space where residents, visitors and their pets can gather, exercise and connect with one another," Cr Ferrari said.
"This project is about much more than creating a place for dogs. It's about supporting community wellbeing, encouraging outdoor activity and providing another attractive public space for people to enjoy.
"The inclusion of native vegetation and Indigenous plantings reflects Council's commitment to sustainability while creating a welcoming environment that can be enjoyed year-round."
The park has been designed to connect with nearby community assets including the Beaufort Skate Park and the Beggs Street amenity block, creating opportunities for activities such as dog obedience training, community events and social gatherings.
Its location close to the Western Highway is also expected to attract travellers passing through Beaufort, encouraging them to stop, explore the town and support local businesses.
Construction is expected to be completed later this year, weather permitting.
