Old Beaufort Primary School Master Plan released

The future vision for the Old Beaufort Primary School site has taken an important step forward, with the Victorian Government approving the Old Beaufort Primary School Master Plan.

Developed by consultants Public Realm Lab in partnership with Council and the community, the plan outlines a long-term site vision, including options for a future community hub and other development opportunities.

Pyrenees Shire Council Mayor Damian Ferrari said the master plan’s release marked a significant milestone for the community asset.

"The Old Beaufort Primary School is an important part of our local history and has a lot of potential to serve our community into the future," Cr Ferrari said.

"This master plan reflects extensive community input and provides a clear vision for how the site could evolve while respecting its heritage significance."

"I'd like to thank everyone who contributed their ideas and feedback throughout the planning process. This document gives us a strong foundation for future discussions and opportunities."

Council has also begun planning for the project's second stage, with a draft early works plan prepared to help protect the site's heritage buildings and remove non-heritage buildings, walkways and fixtures.

A heritage expert will now be engaged to develop detailed designs outlining how the site's significant heritage elements can be preserved and managed.

"While future development of a multi-use community hub will depend on decisions around site ownership and funding availability, this work ensures we are well positioned to progress opportunities as they arise," Cr Ferrari said.
