As a newly formed partnership, Tourism Midwest Victoria in collaboration with Pyrenees Shire Council has developed a Local Area Action Plan (LAAP) to grow local tourism while balancing competing needs and uniting the industry in challenging economic times. Council and Tourism Midwest Victoria is now inviting those involved in the local tourism sector to have their say on the recommendations outlined in the plan.

The plan focuses on Pyrenees Shire Council-specific recommendations to help guide the Shire’s visitor economy over the next ten years and reflects the needs of the community, industry and Council, and aims to:

  • Unite a new tourism region in times of unprecedented economic uncertainty;
  • Pursue growth while balancing the differing needs and wants of industry, visitors and residents; and,
  • Adopt a sustainable approach to tourism development creating lasting benefits for Midwest communities.
