Pyrenees Shire Council has added a dedicated webpage to its website highlighting key local support services available to residents who may need assistance over the festive season.

The page includes:

  • A Pyrenees Resource List, compiled by Ballarat Community Health, outlining services that provide food relief, connection and practical support
  • Links to important websites that can help residents connect with vital services
  • Information on a wide range of family violence support services

Pyrenees Shire Mayor Cr Damian Ferrari said the Christmas and New Year period can be particularly challenging for some members of the community, making it important support options are easy to find.

“The Christmas and New Year period is often associated with joy, connection and celebration, but for some people it can also be a time of stress, loneliness or financial pressure,” Cr Ferrari said.

“If this season feels challenging, please remember that you are not alone. Support is available, and it’s okay to reach out.”

“Even small steps—such as speaking with someone you trust, seeking assistance, or taking time for self-care—can make a meaningful difference.”

Council is also reminding residents that Pyrenees Community House will again host the Beaufort Christmas Lunch at the Beaufort RSL, 13 Willoby Street, Beaufort.

This is for anyone that is on their own at Christmas, and lone parents/carers and their children seeking companionship on Christmas Day.

Bookings are essential and can be made by contacting Sheina on 0400 949 157.

Residents can find the full list of services on the Pyrenees Shire Council website at pyrenees.vic.gov.au
