Pyrenees Shire Council has announced Sally Jones as its Interim Chief Executive Officer.

Ms Jones will take up the role on Monday 3 August after she finishes her current term as Interim CEO at Baw Baw Shire Council.

She will be in the role for a minimum of three months and a maximum of six months, or until a permanent CEO is appointed.

Ms Jones has 24 years of local government experience in metropolitan, regional and peri-urban councils, including roles as CEO, general manager, and director.

She has held senior management positions in governance, strategy, finance, organisational performance, community services, infrastructure, customer experience and organisational transformation.

Between 2024 and 2025, she was also Interim CEO at Central Goldfields Shire Council.

Mayor Cr Damian Ferrari said Ms Jones was well-positioned to take Pyrenees Shire Council forward.

“We believe Sally will build and create great relationships with our stakeholders, particularly our community, and continue to deliver on the Council’s expectations,” Cr Ferrari said.

“Sally was appointed after a rigorous recruitment process, with the next step to start recruiting a permanent CEO.”

The recruitment process will begin in the next few weeks and will be overseen by a committee of the five councillors and a professional independent advisor.

Current CEO Jim Nolan will retire from the position on Friday 10 July. Council’s Director of Assets and Development Douglas Gowans will be Acting CEO until Monday 3 August.
