Hillman Road – Culvert Replacement and Pavement Restoration Work

During the October 2022 flood, Hillman Road was washed out on the north side over the culvert structure. As the asset was not owned by Pyrenees Shire Council at the time, the repair was not eligible to be claimed from Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).  After protracted negotiations, a Memorandum of Understanding was agreed with the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) to fund the repair with the increase in culvert capacity funded by the Betterment Program.

The damaged culvert has been replaced with a new reinforced concrete box culvert.  The increased capacity culvert will improve the resilience of this waterway crossing during heavy rain.

Further Flood Recovery Works

As part of the DRFA funded flood recovery work, the following projects have recently been completed.

  • Susans Lane, floodway repairs at Fiddlers Creek, Percydale
  • Stony Crossing Road, concrete floodway reconstruction at Redbank Creek, Redbank
  • Greenhill Creek Road, concrete floodway at the approach to Bridge 76 over the Avoca River at Amphitheatre
