The Pyrenees Shire welcomed two of Australia’s newest citizens this week in a ceremony at the Beeripmo Development Centre in Beaufort.
Sandra Watkins and Audrey Thomas were awarded Australian citizenship on Tuesday 21 February, with Pyrenees Shire Council Mayor Ron Eason officiating.
“Our ceremony today recognises that citizenship is a common bond made meaningful because it embraces an understanding of the rights and responsibilities of all people,” Cr Eason said. “Australia can take enormous pride in your decision to freely choose to become part of this nation as a fully participating member.”
Councillors Tanya Kehoe, David Clark, Robert Vance and Damian Ferrari also attended the ceremony, along with Pyrenees Shire CEO Jim Nolan and directors Kathy Bramwell and Douglas Gowans.
We wish our new citizens all the best!
