2025 Children's Week Intergenerational Event
Published on 14 October 2025
The young at heart and the young in body will join for a special Children’s Week Intergenerational Playgroup in Avoca.
Avoca Residential Community residents will play host to the Avoca playgroup, kindergarten and primary school children, with parents, grandparents, carers and preschoolers also invited to take part.
The afternoon of joy and celebration will take place on Wednesday 22 October between 1.30pm and 3pm at the Avoca hostel at 10 Templeton St.
Creative activities, a lot of fun and plenty of food will be the order of the day as young monkeys meet wise owls for an afternoon of merriment.
Pyrenees Shire Council Mayor Tanya Kehoe said the playgroup will be a wonderful opportunity for the younger and the older to come together for some precious bonding time.
“Our older residents have a lot of knowledge to impart to our younger ones, and the younger ones provide youthful and vibrant companionship to our older residents,” Cr Kehoe said.
“This will be a beautiful way to bring generations together for an afternoon of fun and joy, which will also celebrate our children and their special week.”

Children’s Week is held annually, with this year’s event taking place between October 18-26. This year’s theme is “Everyone should know about Children’s Rights”.
