Pyrenees Shire Council is undertaking works to restore the lighting at Beaufort Memorial Park that illuminates the cenotaph and statues at night.
An issue with the lighting has been caused by failed underground electrical cabling where water has caused shorting at key connection points.
A Council-engaged electrician is currently working to resolve these issues, and lighting has now been restored to the Cenotaph.
However, other park lighting may remain affected until new compliant cabling can be installed.
Pyrenees Shire Council CEO Jim Nolan said the significance of 11 November’s Remembrance Day was uppermost in Council’s mind in scheduling the works.
“I am aware this is a very important day for the Beaufort RSL and the whole community in remembering the sacrifices of the men and women who gave their lives so we can experience the freedoms we have today,” Mr Nolan said.
“Our works in the Beaufort Memorial Park will take this into consideration so we don’t cause any disruption to Remembrance Day events or any other public events that use the park, such as markets.”
