The Beaufort Pool liner will be replaced before the 2026/27 pool season after it was identified as being at the end of its life during an assessment of all three Pyrenees Shire pools.
The ageing liner has previously caused temporary Beaufort Pool closures after air and water became trapped behind it. Replacing the liner will also mean the pool’s shell can be accurately examined for any structural issues.
All three Pyrenees Shire pools, including Beaufort, Avoca and Landsborough, are currently undergoing testing as part of a swimming pool service delivery review to improve efficiency and plan for future maintenance and operations.
The review will include benchmarking with other regional councils, a study of operational models and processes, and development of an asset and maintenance register and current condition assessments of all three pools.
Pyrenees Shire Council Mayor Damian Ferrari said he wanted to reassure the community that Council has committed operational funding to all pools for the 2026/27 season.
“Council officers and contractors are working to complete works prior to the season’s opening date,” Cr Ferrari said.
