Beaufort gets first EV charging station
Published on 13 June 2023
Beaufort’s first electric vehicle charging station is up and running. The two 50kW fast chargers installed at the Willoby Street carpark were commissioned today and stand ready to charge up to four vehicles at a time.
The chargers, which are operated through a smartphone app, take around one hour to charge an average electric car from 20% to 80%.
As well as convenience for EV owners, the new charging stations are expected to benefit the local economy with visitors using local shops and facilities while their cars are charging.

One of the new charging stations has been installed by Pyrenees Shire Council, with funding through the Commonwealth Local Road and Community Infrastructure Program (LRCIP), and the other has been installed by the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA).
These charging stations join the unit recently commissioned in Amphitheatre in the fledgling Pyrenees network. A further station being built in Avoca is expected to be completed in July.
