Council encourages WRL EES submissions
Published on 08 July 2025
The proposed Western Renewables Link Environmental Effects Statement has been put out for public exhibition.
Council encourages the community to review the documents and make a submission by the closing date of 22 August.
Council will also make a considered submission, focusing on key issues of concern for our communities. A copy of the submission will be made available on our website at pyrenees.vic.gov.au
Printed copies of the full EES and the draft Planning Scheme Amendment (PSA) are available at the Beaufort Community Resource Centre, along with a USB containing the same information.
Printed copies of the summary EES report and a USB containing the full EES and the draft PSA are available at the Lexton Community Centre.
Further information regarding the EES can be found at:
The EES describes the proposed project and its expected environmental effects, the process undertaken to develop the project, and how AusNet propose to avoid, mitigate or manage environmental effects.
Pyrenees Shire Mayor Cr Tanya Kehoe said while Council was not the project owner, it would encourage all concerned residents to make a submission.
“We have made our Beaufort Community Resource Centre and our Lexton Community Centre available for residents to sit down and review the information or take it away with them in a USB so they can fully understand the EES process and make an informed submission,” Cr Kehoe said.
“We know this issue is challenging for a number of people in our community, and we want to give everyone the opportunity to have their say.”
Council has also made a submission to VicGrid’s draft Victorian Transmission Plan, arguing the rapid rollout of renewable energy and transmission projects is having significant negative impacts on the region. A copy of the submission is available on our website at pyrenees.vic.gov.au
