Drop-in sessions progress Rural Water Supply plans
Published on 11 October 2023
Public information sessions have recently been held at Natte Yallock, Navarre and Bealiba to update communities on the business case being developed for the proposed Southern Wimmera and Northeast Pyrenees Pipeline.
Following on from the success of these events, drop-in sessions are being held across the region to give landholders further opportunity to learn more about the proposed water scheme and the cost and benefits of connections.
The Southern Wimmera and Northeast Pyrenees Water Supply is a major infrastructure project designed to consolidate water supply across parts of the Central Goldfields, Northern Grampians and Pyrenees Shires.
A feasibility study commissioned by GWMWater for the pipeline commenced in February this year. The study has now been completed and the project has progressed to business case phase.
The project partners GWMWater, Central Highlands Water, Pyrenees, Central Goldfields and Northern Grampians Shire Councils are working towards developing a compelling case for funding by higher levels of government. Should the business case be proven viable then the aim of the current phase of the project is to be shovel ready by the time applications for funding are sought.
The dates, times and locations for next week’s drop-in sessions are as follows. Each session will run for one hour.
Wednesday 18 October
- 10.00 a.m. Bealiba Public Hall
- 12.00 p.m. Natte Yallock Recreation Reserve
- 2.00 p.m. Moonambel Public Hall
- 4.00 p.m. Amphitheatre Recreation Reserve
Thursday 19 October
- 10.00 a.m. Glenorchy Public Hall
- 12.00 p.m. Campbells Bridge Hall

To help build a strong case for the project, landholders with an interest in water connections are encouraged to lodge expressions of interest. Details about this process and the project background are available at https://gwmwater.org.au/swnep-study or by calling 1300 659 961.
