Pyrenees Shire Council Mayor Damian Ferrari has wished all residents a very merry Christmas and a happy 2026.

“This has been an eventful year for Pyrenees Shire, and I want to thank our communities for their support, strength and resilience during this time,” Cr Ferrari said.

“We started the year with a relatively new Council after the local government election, but the three new Councillors have blended in extremely well with Cr Kehoe and me and have shown the dedication and determination needed to get things done in our Shire.

“Events – such as Beaufort by Twilight, the Beaufort Agricultural Show, Pyrenees Unearthed, the Lake Goldsmith Steam Rally and our local markets – continue to be well attended and reflect the spirit and pride of our community.

“As a Council, we’re delivering projects for our residents, from the smaller but important things like keeping our public toilets clean and mowing our streetscapes, to major initiatives such as the $7 million Beaufort Key Worker Accommodation Project, our $12.6 million capital works program, an Economic Development Strategy, road safety improvements, bridge renewal, reviewing and developing some of our recreation facilities and the Old Beaufort Primary School Master Plan.

“We will continue to serve our communities to the best of our abilities into 2026. We wish you all a wonderful festive season and look forward to working with you again next year.”
