A drop-in engagement session has been planned for the Old Beaufort Primary School Master Plan project on 16 September 2025.
The drop-in session will be a great opportunity for interested community members to learn more about the initial Master Plan direction and ask questions.
In August, Council voted to start talks with the Victorian Government about taking control of the school site. Buildings on the site will however require significant investment and refurbishment before they are considered suitable for use as a community hub, and Council will be seeking this investment commitment as part of these negotiations.
Two surveys have been conducted to give the public an opportunity to have their say on the former primary school site’s future. The surveys focused on understanding how Beaufort’s community assets are currently used, and how the site can best serve the community in the future. There was a good response to the surveys, and this engagement has been taken into consideration when creating this initial master plan.
Pyrenees Shire Council Mayor Tanya Kehoe said it was great to see so many people in the community embracing the potential of the old primary school site by completing the surveys.
“This feedback will be important in moving forward with the next stage of the project, and making sure the site best suits the needs of the entire community,” Cr Kehoe said.
Anyone interested in learning more about the project can attend the informal drop-in session at Beaufort’s Beeripmo Development Centre on 16 September, anytime between 1.30pm to 6pm.
