Second OBPS survey underway
A second Old Beaufort Primary School Master Plan survey is now available, asking for feedback on creating a vibrant community space for the whole Shire.
The survey is the second to be undertaken by Pyrenees Shire Council and architectural consultants Public Realm Lab as part of the Old Beaufort Primary School Master Plan project.
While the former school is on Victorian Government land, Council is the project manager for the preparation of the master plan for the site.
Survey one focused on understanding how Beaufort’s community assets are currently used, including activities of community groups and identifying groups that may not yet have a suitable space.
Respondents to survey one also raised several suggestions for the site including youth and arts spaces, a gym, indoor sports facilities, rehearsal and performance areas, meeting spaces, gardens, housing, childcare, a community house, a library, social enterprises, and the Cyril Calister Museum.
Pyrenees Shire Mayor Tanya Kehoe said it was important to get as much feedback as possible on future uses for the Hill Street site.
“We want to hear from as many people as we can to ensure we get a wide range of viewpoints on what a community hub could look like,” Cr Kehoe said.
“This will be a vital community asset for many years to come, and we want to make sure it includes the right mix of uses that can service our diverse population.”
The survey can be found at pyrenees.vic.gov.au and will also be mailed to every household in the 3373 post code. If returning the survey by post, please allow an extra week for it to reach Council’s offices.
Fliers featuring QR codes linking to the survey will be distributed across Beaufort and survey copies will also be available at Pyrenees Shire libraries, Council offices or upon request.
The survey closes on Wednesday 6 August.
If you would like to take part in in-person meetings as part of completing survey two, please contact Council on 1300 797 363 or email pyrenees@pyrenees.vic.gov.au
