The final element of the Victorian State Government–funded Outdoor Dining program, Pyrenees Projections, was finished in late June. A fixed projector and some extra street furniture have been installed in the pedestrian walkway between Neill and Willoby Streets in Beaufort.

The project is designed to make the walkway space more amenable for outdoor diners while also providing a space to project videos about the Pyrenees, from promotional content about community events, local tourism attractions, as well as black and white silent films and other creative films (the projector doesn’t produce sound).

Local community organisations are being urged to submit content for the projector.

The Neill Street location was chosen because it has the highest volume of traffic in the Shire (Department of Transport statistics show an average of 7700 vehicles per day on Neill Street), meaning the projections will reach the most people.

This project was funded as part of a $250,000 State Government grant that also funded the installation of café barriers and planter boxes across the Shire. You can read more about the Pyrenees Outdoor Dining activation here.
