Beaufort Off-Leash Dog Park

Pyrenees Shire Council is working towards establishing an off-leash dog park in Beaufort after a petition was received from the community in 2021, and due to subsequent community interest through more recent consultation.

The Beaufort Off-Leash Dog Park will transform underused land into a fully fenced, off-leash dog park.

Concept design plans can be found here(PDF, 781KB).

Featuring native vegetation for cooling and biodiversity, the park will include shaded seating, hydration stations and Indigenous plantings with interpretive signage, promoting social cohesion and environmental sustainability.

Connecting to key other community assets, it will serve as a year-round hub for activities like dog obedience training and events.

The park will attract travelers from the nearby Western Highway, supporting local businesses while promoting health, well-being, and connectivity for residents and visitors.

Funding of $111,000 has been received from the Victorian Government’s New and Upgraded Dog Park Program to construct this facility.

Project plans are currently being finalised, and members of the public are being invited to provide input to a concept plan.

This can be done by either:

  1. Emailing pyrenees@pyrenees.vic.gov.au with the subject heading “Dog Park”
  2. Using the submission form here
  3. Visiting Council offices or the Beaufort Community Resource Centre to examine the design and share your thoughts.

Submissions close Friday 23 July.
