Robert Vance is a farmer, community lobbyist and long-serving Councillor for the De Cameron Ward. Cr Vance is a sheep farmer and has spent two decades in local government, including five years as an executive on the Rural Councils Victoria Board.

He loves the natural beauty of the environment and appreciates the quality of the people that live in the Pyrenees. Cr Vance values the community’s ability to close ranks in times of need, or grief, to provide support to one another despite race, creed or colour.

Cr Vance was first elected to the then-Avoca Shire Council in 1987.He joined the Pyrenees Shire Council post amalgamations in 1996 until 2002.He was re-elected in 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020. Cr Vance nominates giving back to his community as his main reason for standing for Council.

Increasing mobile phone coverage in Moonambel and Landsborough and the rest of the Shire are key priorities for Cr Vance in this Council term. Potable water for Moonambel, new kitchens for Redbank and Barkly halls and continued improvement to roads are also on his ‘to-do’ list.

Cr Vance has three adult children, four grandchildren and lives with wife Jan in Landsborough.
