Great summer ahead planned for the Pyrenees Pools

Council has carried out key maintenance and upgrade work over the winter across the three pools in Avoca, Beaufort and Landsborough. More than $200,000 has been spent on servicing and upgrading the three facilities.
Pyrenees Shire CEO, Jim Nolan, said that Council has made some significant improvements to the Shire’s swimming pools.
“Some of the main improvements include non-slip flooring at Beaufort and Landsborough Pools, replacement of the pool heating system at Landsborough Pool, re-turfing and installation of an in-ground watering system at Beaufort Pool, and improvements to the pool operating systems and chemical storage across all three pools,” Mr Nolan said.
“The pools also have a new operator, Belgravia Leisure, which has a wealth of experience in managing pool facilities,” he said.
“Council would like to thank Unified Community Sport and Leisure for all the work it has done in managing the pools over the 2020/2021 swimming season and assisting with the preparation and hand over for this season,” Mr Nolan said.
While the Pyrenees’ pools are nearly ready for summer, Belgravia has been struggling to find lifeguards due to a state-wide lifeguard shortage caused by the global pandemic. At this stage, Beaufort pool will open this weekend but unfortunately there are no lifeguards for Landsborough, which means it’s unable to open.
The pump at the Avoca pool has had a break down, it is hoped the pool can be open by early next week.
If you’re looking for work and would like to help your community open its pool, Belgravia Leisure is currently seeking both junior and senior lifeguards for the season. Please contact Area Manager, Rod Simms, on 0459 277 255 or rsimms@belgravialeisure.com.au.
Belgravia and Council staff are working hard on the matters at Landsborough and Avoca pools and aim to have them resolved as a soon as possible.
Admission prices for all pools this summer are: Adult $4.20, Child $2.30, Concession $3.00 and a Family $11.50. Season passes: Adult $70, Child $47, Concession $50, Family $77.
Beaufort and Avoca pools are open during pool season (December to March): 11am to 7pm on weekends, public holidays and school holidays; 1pm to 7pm Monday to Friday; and 6.30am to 8am for lap swimming on Tuesdays and Thursdays (subject to lifeguard availability).
The opening hours at Landsborough will be 1pm to 7pm weekends, public holidays and school holidays; 3pm to 7pm Monday to Friday.
Please note that the pools will not open if the predicted temperature the night before is forecasted to be less than 20 degrees, on days declared Code Red or with extreme weather.
