Redbank Streetscape Project underway next week
Published on 30 May 2025
Redbank is set for important stormwater drainage upgrades and streetscape beautification works as part of the Redbank Streetscape Project starting next week.
Pyrenees Shire CEO Jim Nolan said community consultation feedback has been incorporated into the works.
The works include:
- Drainage construction along Perry Road and Burge Street
- Planting of street trees within Navarre Street and Perry Road
- Construction of kerb and channel within Navarre Street.
Tree species selected based on community input and ability to thrive in the local climate will be planted to enhance the streetscape.
“Euky dwarf” flowering gums will be planted along Perrys Road, between Navarre Street and Burge Street. Existing vegetation near the corner of Burge Street and Perrys Road will be removed to make way for the new trees.
Navarre Street will be lined with two varieties of Crepe Myrtle, bringing a burst of white and pink flowers in late summer.
Works will occur on Navarre Street (between High Street and the old Redbank Hotel), Perry Road (between Navarre Street and Burge Street) and Burge Street (between Perry Road and Stoney Crossing Road).
These works are funded by $250,000 from the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
“These works will help provide a better drainage system in Redbank, which has experienced stormwater flooding issues in the past,” Mr Nolan said.
“The carefully chosen tree plantings will also provide an enhanced streetscape to improve the township’s aesthetics.”
Mr Nolan said the works may cause short-term impacts to adjacent occupants.
“Council’s contractors and works crews will work to ensure these impacts are minimised, including direct access issues.”
