Events Officer
Part time – Limited Tenure (12 months) 22.8 hours per week
Band 5 (Salary $79,982 - $90,344 Pro Rata) + Super

Pyrenees Shire Council is seeking a motivated and community focused professional to join the Economic Development and Tourism team.

Working closely with local businesses, industry groups, visitors and the community, the Events Officer will support in the implementation, development and approval of Council, tourism and identified community events within Pyrenees Shire.

Reporting to the Manager Economic Development and Tourism, the Business Support Officer will:

  • Facilitate Council’s tourism objectives to sustain and grow events for the benefit of both industry stakeholders, visitors and the community.
  • To provide ongoing support for the implementation, development and approval of Council, tourism and identified community events within Pyrenees Shire and provide assistance with regulatory requirements, optimise patronage, cultural, social and economic benefits.
  • To maximise opportunities for effective promotion and marketing of events through accurate and timely dissemination of information to target markets.
  • Assisting the Manager Economic Development and Tourism in actively participating in local tourism forums through identified committees and boards.
  • Under the direction of the Manager Economic Development and Tourism support the coordination of Council hosted industry, civic and other events including Australia Day.

     

    About You

    To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Experience in tourism, marketing, hospitality or a related field
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Extensive understanding of and experience in events management
  • Experience in building and maintaining stakeholder / customer relationships.
  • Excellent computer and administration skills, including use of digital platforms for marketing purposes.
  • Excellent customer service skills including verbal and written communication skills.
